For his part, Dokubo publicly pledged his support for President Tinubu, citing the President’s loyalty and steadfastness during challenging periods in his life. He disclosed that his relationship with Tinubu dates back to 1992, describing it as long-standing and built on trust and mutual respect.
Dokubo expressed appreciation for Tinubu’s support in difficult times and assured Wike that he would mobilise support within his capacity to ensure the President’s success in the 2027 presidential election.
The visit also provided an opportunity for Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, to exchange New Year greetings with Dokubo and appreciate the warm reception accorded him and his entourage.
Political observers see the meeting as part of broader efforts by key political actors to consolidate alliances and strengthen grassroots support in the Niger Delta region ahead of the 2027 elections.
