The Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) has called for transparency in Kwara Local Government Area’s (LGA) Financial Management.
The anti-corruption crusaders made the call today during a programme on SBS Radio tagged: “Imojuto Owo Ara Ilu” anchored by Comrade Mashood Lanrey Osho, the Deputy Coordinator of ENetSuD.
Comrade Osho issued a clarion call to community-based organizations across Kwara State’s 16 LGAs to hold their local government chairmen accountable for prudent management of citizens’ funds.
Specifically, Comrade Osho urged these organizations to write to their respective LG chairmen, demanding:
– Monthly Allocation Transparency: Regular declaration of monthly allocations received.
– Salary Payment Accountability: Detailed breakdown of salary payments.
– Staff Screening: Thorough vetting to identify and address ghost workers.
ENetSuD emphasizes that transparency is crucial for effective utilization of public resources, driving human development, infrastructure growth, and local security – all of which are pivotal to good governance at the grassroots level.
By echoing this call to action, ENetSuD reaffirms its commitment to promoting accountability and responsible governance in Kwara State. Will this move mark the beginning of a new era of transparency in Nigeria’s local government administration? Only time will tell.
