The Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has acknowledged receiving a petition from A.U. Mustapha, SAN, challenging what he described as exploitative airfare practices by Overland Airways on the Ilorin flight route.
In the petition, dated August 4, 2025, the prominent Kwara-born Senior Advocate of Nigeria, accused the airline of imposing discriminatory and exorbitant ticket prices on the Lagos–Ilorin–Abuja route.
He argued that Overland Airways has leveraged its position as the sole commercial airline operating from the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin to charge unreasonably high fares.
A.U. Mustapha’s petition detailed fare discrepancies on flights where Ilorin is used only as a stopover, describing the pricing pattern as unfair to travellers to and from the state.
Responding in a letter dated August 21, 2025, FCCPC’s Deputy Director of Surveillance & Investigation, Mrs. F.O.I. Nwachukwu, confirmed receipt of the complaint and assured that the commission would carry out a comprehensive investigation to ensure a fair and timely resolution.
