The Kwara State Command of the Federal Fire Service has initiated a partnership with the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) to enhance public awareness and safety education.
This development followed a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I) Modibbo Ibrahim, to ASKOMP Chairman, Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek, who is also the Publisher and CEO of The Informant247.
In his remarks, Modibbo praised ASKOMP for its contributions to media development in the state and underscored the importance of media collaboration in achieving the service’s mandate.
“Media plays a critical role in shaping public narratives and setting societal agenda. For us at the Federal Fire Service, building a strong relationship with the media is key to reaching more people with our activities,” he said.
He added that beyond reporting on the command’s operations, the partnership would help in training and sensitizing the public on fire prevention and safety measures.
“Our work is anchored on humanitarian service – saving lives and property. To succeed, we need a strong synergy with the media,” he emphasized.
Responding, ASKOMP Chairman, Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek, commended the new PRO for prioritizing collaboration with the media. He noted that the objectives of the fire service align with ASKOMP’s mission of creating awareness and promoting societal development.
“One of the core principles of the press is to serve society. This collaboration will not only promote public safety but also open avenues for exchanging ideas that foster development,” he said.
He further assured the command of ASKOMP’s unwavering support in promoting its activities and educating the public to prevent avoidable fire incidents.
