Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.
Abubakar completed his registration on Monday at Gwadabawa Ward in Yola North Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, he expressed gratitude to party leaders and supporters who turned out to welcome him into the party.
“What you are seeing here is the support of the people, and I am very thankful for it,” he said.
He acknowledged the support of APC leaders at various levels, including members of the state executive, women and youth leaders, as well as the party chairman. Abubakar also expressed confidence in his political future within the APC.
“I want to thank the APC members, the leaders in the state executive, the women leaders, the youth leaders, and the chairman. I also thank the people of Adamawa. I am proud to be your son, and by the grace of God, this journey we have started will go very far,” he stated.
A temporary APC membership slip issued to him confirms his registration in Adamawa State, Yola North Local Government Area, and Gwadabawa Ward.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had earlier described his son’s decision to join the APC as a personal choice guided by individual conscience. He noted that differences in political affiliation among family members are common in a democratic society.
According to him, plural political choices within families are a normal feature of democratic practice.
The development comes months after Atiku Abubakar formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under which he contested the presidency several times.
Following his exit, he joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is currently working with an ADC-led coalition to mobilize support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
