A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held on November 15, 2025, declaring it invalid for being conducted in defiance of subsisting court orders.
In a ruling delivered by Justice Uche Agomoh, the court held that the PDP acted in flagrant disregard of judicial directives and could not lawfully seek the court’s endorsement for actions taken in violation of its orders. The judge emphasized that no political party is above the law and that court orders must be obeyed at all times.
Consequently, the court barred Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and others who emerged from the nullified convention from parading themselves as national officers of the party.

Justice Agomoh further recognized the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the only legitimate National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, pending the conduct of a valid and court-compliant National Convention.
The Key Highlights of the Judgment are as follows:
- The PDP National Convention held on November 15, 2025, in Ibadan was declared null and void.
- Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and others were restrained from presenting themselves as national officers of the party.
- The Caretaker Committee headed by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu was affirmed as the party’s recognized NWC until a proper convention is held.
Reacting to the judgment, the PDP said there was “no cause for alarm,” insisting that the party’s leadership remains legally intact.
The party also disclosed that it has directed its legal team to immediately file an appeal and explore all lawful options to challenge the ruling.
