The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across Nigeria, with a strong emphasis on security, punctuality, and seamless coordination at examination centres nationwide.
Across major cities, including Maiduguri, Abuja, and Lagos, candidates turned out early for accreditation and screening, while officials ensured that all systems were in place to prevent technical disruptions.
In Maiduguri, security was notably heightened as candidates underwent thorough screening by security operatives before being granted access to examination halls. The presence of both uniformed and plainclothes personnel underscored efforts to maintain order and uphold the integrity of the exercise.

In Abuja, operations at the 23 Technology Limited CBT Centre in NAF Valley Estate began promptly, with accreditation starting at 6:30 a.m. Out of the 250 candidates expected for the first session, 223 arrived on time. The examination commenced as scheduled at 8:30 a.m., with only one candidate denied entry due to failure to meet screening requirements.
Similarly, in Lagos, adverse weather conditions did not deter candidates from arriving early at their centres. At Farydhak Concept CBT Centre on Tokunbo Street, Lagos Island, candidates showed resilience despite heavy rainfall. Security personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps conducted thorough checks, including biometric verification, before allowing entry into the examination hall.
Overall, the nationwide rollout of the 2026 UTME has been marked by strong security measures, efficient organization, and a high level of compliance by candidates, reflecting JAMB’s commitment to a credible and smooth examination process.
