The Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Kwara State Chapter, has called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, community leaders, and security stakeholders to address the growing wave of insecurity threatening lives and livelihoods across the state.
The Chairman of the association, Dr. Samuel Yusuf Bola, made the call while stressing that the challenge of insecurity is too complex to be handled by any single institution.
He urged the formal integration of private security practitioners – often regarded as a complementary force – into the state’s broader security architecture.
Dr. Yusuf highlighted that licensed private security companies operate at the grassroots level, including residential estates, markets, schools, banks, and corporate facilities.
This, he noted, places them in a strategic position to gather valuable intelligence that can support conventional security agencies in crime prevention and early threat detection.
He further called on the Kwara State Government to establish a structured framework that fosters collaboration between private security operators and key agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and recognised local vigilante groups.

The ALPSPN chairman also urged residents and business owners to engage only licensed and registered private security firms, warning that the proliferation of unregulated operators poses significant risks to public safety.
Reaffirming the association’s commitment to professionalism, Dr. Yusuf emphasized the importance of continuous training, strict adherence to ethical standards, and regulatory compliance.
He described a well-coordinated and properly regulated private security sector as a vital pillar in building a safer and more secure society.
