The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a scheduled power outage affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the local government elections.
In a statement issued on Friday, AEDC said the outage will impact areas including Mpape, Bwari, Jere, Jiwa, Parts of Jahi, Karimo, Idu, Parts of Suleja and environs.
The company explained that the planned interruption is to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out maintenance work on the 60MVA Transformer TR1 at the Katampe Transmission Substation.
According to AEDC, the maintenance exercise is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

AEDC noted that the work forms part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability and enhance power supply across the affected areas.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to residents for patience during the maintenance period.
