Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State have taken steps to strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections by endorsing Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, as their preferred candidate for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat.
The endorsement was reached during a high-level meeting held at the Sandamu Local Government Secretariat, attended by key elected officials and political appointees from across the constituency.
Speaking at the gathering, the council chairman, Usman Na Lado, described the move as a collective decision by party stakeholders aimed at boosting APC’s chances in the 2027 elections. He noted that Yusuf Buhari was considered a strong contender due to his perceived capacity and wide acceptance among party members.

Beyond the House of Representatives race, stakeholders also reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda as the party’s preferred candidates for the presidency and governorship, respectively, in 2027.
In addition, the meeting endorsed the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasiru Yahaya Daura, for the Daura Senatorial seat.
Na Lado said the endorsements reflect early strategic positioning by the party, urging loyalists to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.
However, sources within the party suggest that Yusuf Buhari’s endorsement may have been influenced by the state governor, describing him as the governor’s preferred candidate.
