
The Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh (Dr.) Mohammed Bashir Soliu, OON.
In a statement released to the press on Tuesday by the chairman of the Association, Salihu Shola Taofeek, ASKOMP described the late cleric as a highly respected Islamic scholar.
The statement reads:
“The Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) receives with deep sorrow the news of the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh (Dr.) Mohammed Bashir Soliu, OON, who departed this world yesterday.
“Sheikh (Dr.) Mohammed Bashir Soliu was a highly respected Islamic scholar, a moral compass, and a pillar of wisdom whose life was dedicated to the service of Islam, humanity, and the peaceful coexistence in Ilorin and Kwara State. His immense contributions to religious scholarship, education, and community development in Ilorin and beyond will remain indelible.

“ASKOMP acknowledges his enduring legacy of humility, knowledge, and leadership, which inspired generations of scholars, students, and community members. His demise is not only a loss to Ilorin Emirate but also to Kwara State and the entire Muslim Ummah.
“On behalf of our members, ASKOMP extends heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the council of Ulama, and the entire people of Kwara State. We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, rewards his good deeds, and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.”
ASKOMP prayed to Allah to grant the family and loved ones of the late Chief Imam of Ilorin the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
