Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday granted bail to a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), his wife, and his son in the sum of ₦500 million.
The judge ruled that each defendant must provide two sureties who own landed property in highbrow areas of Abuja, including Asokoro, Maitama, or Gwarinpa.
Justice Nwite further directed that the sureties submit their travel documents to the court and depose to affidavits of means. The title documents of the properties are to be verified by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court.
Malami was also ordered to deposit his international passport and other travel documents with the court and must not travel outside the country without prior permission of the court.
