
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the recent students’ protest at the Kwara State Polytechnic.
The panel is chaired by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Senior Ibrahim Sulyman. Other members are the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Nafisat Buge, and the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare, Dr. Mrs. Mercy Olufunke Shittu.
According to the directive, the committee is expected to submit its report within two weeks. Its terms of reference include:
- Examining the remote and immediate causes of the protest and how it was handled;
- Recommending measures to prevent a recurrence;
- Making further recommendations to enhance the growth and stability of the institution.

Meanwhile, the Governor has directed the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, to step aside with immediate effect pending the outcome of the investigation. The most senior Deputy Rector will act in his stead during the period.
The committee is mandated to engage all relevant stakeholders in the course of its assignment.
