
In a landmark stride toward infrastructural development and community empowerment, the Executive Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Area, Hon. Nuhu Majeed Podo, has officially commissioned a series of multi-million naira projects across the local government. The event marks a historic milestone in the administration’s first seven months, showcasing one of the most ambitious grassroots development drives in the history of Ilorin South.
Addressing a gathering of dignitaries, stakeholders, and grateful residents, Hon. Podo reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered governance, highlighting the projects as a reflection of the state government’s development vision under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Community leaders, youth representatives, and traditional heads commended the Chairman’s unprecedented efforts, describing him as the most responsive and development-driven leader Ilorin South has ever had.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
1. Renovation of Classrooms at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Zango Eleboto, and Oke-Aluko Primary School.
2. Construction and Renovation Works at Gbagba Junior Secondary School including a staff room, principal’s office, and classrooms.
3. Water and Sanitation Projects: Four modern toilets and motorized boreholes at Gbagba Primary School, Government Day JSS Gbagba, Fate, and Tanke.
4. Primary Healthcare Development: A new PHC named “Sardauna Ngeri of Ilorin Primary Healthcare Center” built at Ajibesin community, complete with a motorized borehole and equipment.
5. Electrification Projects: Installation of seven (7) transformers, including 500KVA and 300KVA capacities, strategically distributed across power-deprived areas. Beneficiary communities include Adunbarin, Meduku, Alagbado Area 5, F-Division in Tanke, and three additional communities identified as the most severely affected by persistent power outages.
6. Community Access to Water: Motorized borehole with running taps installed in Olomoda.
7. Educational Support: Provision of modern furniture to all renovated schools and purchasing of 200 jamb forms.
8. Infrastructure Development: Completion and MD metering of Olufadi Healthcare Center; grading of roads from Idofian to Fufu; and partnership with the University of Ilorin VC to support road grading.
9. Economic Empowerment: Construction of the AGF AbdulRazaq Shopping Complex at Ero Omo.
10. Human Capital Development: 30 full scholarships (including hostel accommodation) awarded to students from all 11 wards for study at the College of Health, Osogbo.
11. Public Hygiene & Sanitation: Construction of four toilets at the Pake Area Office.
12. Security Enhancement: Increase in security personnel from 20 to 110.
13. Job Creation: Employment of 50 community-based casual workers.
14. Legislative Support: Procurement of a legislative bus for councilors and refurbishment of official vehicles.
15. Stakeholder Engagement: Regular meetings with community stakeholders to identify needs and priorities.
Hon. Podo emphasized that these projects are only the beginning of broader transformative initiatives aimed at delivering sustainable growth and social welfare across all communities in Ilorin South.
“Our administration is fully aligned with the development goals of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. With transparency, passion, and purpose, we are committed to delivering results that touch lives and uplift communities,” he said.


As the people of Ilorin South celebrate these achievements, expectations are high for even more impactful interventions in the months ahead.
