
The Wakilin of Ilorin Emirate and Chairman of Crystal Group of Companies, Hon. Mashood Mustapha (MM), has mourned the demise of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu.
The revered Islamic cleric reportedly passed away today, after over four decades of distinguished service as the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin.
In a condolence statement personally signed by him, Hon. MM condoled with the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR, and the entire Ilorin Emirate over the irreparable loss.
The statement reads in part:
“I am deeply saddened by the demise of our revered Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu. His demise is a great loss not only to Ilorin Emirate but to the entire Muslim Ummah.
“The late Chief Imam was an outstanding Islamic scholar and cleric who devoted his life to the propagation of Islam. His immense contributions to the growth and development of Islam in Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State at large will remain evergreen. He distinguished himself as a religious leader of uncommon dedication, humility, and wisdom, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for generations.”
Hon. MM further extended his heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the family of the late Chief Imam, and the people of Ilorin Emirate.
“On behalf of the sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate, I extend my sincere condolences to our revered Royal Father, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR, and the family of the late Chief Imam. He will be greatly missed. I pray that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. Aamin.”
