The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), an apex Youth body in the North with membership across the 19 Northern states, and the FCT, has conferred the Sir Ahmadu Bello Legacy Honour on Hon. Mashood Mustapha (MM) as the GARKUWAN MATASAN AREWA/ICON & CYNOSURE OF SOCIETAL TRANSFORMATION.
The award was presented by the President of the Council, Dr. Isah Ododo, together with the Vice President, Hon. Mohammed Abdulrazaq, and other executives, during a courtesy visit to the Wakilin of Ilorin Emirate and Chairman of Crystal Group of Companies, Hon. Mashood Mustapha, in his office in Abuja on Wednesday, 12th February, 2025.
Speaking during the presentation of the award, the NYCN said the Sir Ahmadu Bello Legacy Honour is usually bestowed on eminent personalities who have made great contributions to the development of the nation.
They said, “We have been following your achievements and track record right from your days as Commissioner and Member of the House of Representatives, and we noticed how you served your people diligently. We are aware of the Otoge revolution in Kwara state and your contribution to the movement did not go unnoticed. We also acknowledge your tremendous contribution to the Kwara political landscape.
“At our recent council meeting at the Arewa House in Kaduna, your name was pencilled down among the Nigerian personalities to receive this Ahmadu Bello Integrity Legacy Honour.”
While receiving the award, Hon. MM appreciated the NYCN for counting him worthy of such a prestigious honour.
He noted, “Sir Ahmadu Bello was a hero who ensured probity in our nation and contributed greatly to nation-building. Honouring the people who are currently towing his path of progress is a laudable initiative by the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria and I am proud of your achievements.
Hon. MM added, “With the calibre of people you have conferred this award on, it is evident that the activities of NYCN are not driven by monetary gains or biases. I promise my continued support for the NYCN.”
