The ancient town of Oke‑Ode, in Ifelodun Local Government, Kwara State, came alive on Sunday as the BABAYUO Foundation hosted its 2026 Ramadan Lecture.
The lecture took place at Elemosho Mosque, Ojulari Compound—the family house of the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bashir Bayo Ojulari.
Leading the lecture, the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhydeen Salman Hussein, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Engr. Ojulari as NNPC Ltd’s Group CEO. He described the appointment as well-deserved and prayed for the President’s re-election in 2027.
The cleric praised President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in Ojulari, whom he called a worthy ambassador of Kwara State, noting his commitment to reforms in the petroleum sector in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that “one good term deserves another,” while offering prayers for continued stability and progress in the country.
Sheikh Hussein also used the occasion to sympathise with the Elesa of Oke-Ode and residents over recent bandit attacks in the community, praying for lasting peace and security.
In his remarks, the Elesa of Oke-Ode, Oba Muftau Adebayo Akanbi Ibrahim, urged indigenes to emulate the developmental strides of Ojulari and other sons and daughters of the town who are investing in community growth. He noted that normalcy is gradually returning to Oke-Ode.
Dignitaries at the event included the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Femi Yusuf; former Chairman of Odi-Olowo Local Government Area of Lagos State, Chief Mufasiru of Oke-Ode; Alhaji Muhammad Zubair; Director of Information, University of Ilorin, Kunle Akogun, and other notable personalities.
