As Nigeria marks this year’s Workers’ Day, Engr. Femi Sanni Araba has extended warm commendations to workers across Kwara State and the country, praising their resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions to national development.
In his message, Araba described workers as the backbone of the economy and a critical force driving growth across key sectors, including public service, education, healthcare, agriculture, and small-scale enterprises. He noted that their daily sacrifices continue to sustain families, strengthen communities, and advance the nation’s collective aspirations.
He observed that this year’s commemoration comes amid prevailing economic challenges, including rising living costs, shifting workplace dynamics, and concerns over job security. According to him, these realities underscore the urgent need for policies and strategic actions that prioritize the welfare, dignity, and productivity of Nigerian workers.
Araba also commended the leadership and efforts of organized labour unions, particularly the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and their affiliates, for their steadfast advocacy in promoting workers’ rights, fairness, and social justice. He emphasized that their role remains vital to national stability and progress.

Calling for stronger collaboration among stakeholders, he urged government, the private sector, and civil society to work collectively toward building an enabling environment where workers are supported, opportunities are expanded, and businesses can thrive.
He highlighted the importance of skills development, innovation, support for small businesses, and the enforcement of fair workplace practices as key drivers of an inclusive and productive economy.
Araba further stressed that the dignity of labour must remain central to national values, noting that every worker deserves respect, fair working conditions, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society.
He concluded by saluting the hardworking people of Kwara State and encouraging them to remain committed to excellence, integrity, and service.
