
A tragic incident has shaken residents of Lagos following the gruesome murder of 17-year-old Thompson Adams Omokafe, allegedly at the hands of two of his former schoolmates.
According to the police, the suspects – Elijah Emmanuel (23) and Tony Ogenata (21) – reportedly lured the teenager to their apartment on April 22, 2026, shortly after he returned from writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Sources indicate that Thompson had gone to visit Elijah, who had previously invited him over on multiple occasions. However, in a shocking turn of events, the young boy was allegedly strangled to death by the suspects. His body was later dumped in a canal in Awoyaya.

After committing the crime, the suspects reportedly fled to Ikorodu in an attempt to evade arrest. Police operatives later tracked them down and took them into custody.
In a disturbing development, the suspects allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦150 million from the victim’s family after killing him. The family, unaware that Thompson was already dead at the time, reportedly paid ₦200,000.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident during a press briefing held in Ikeja on April 29, 2026.
The State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, stated that the suspects had been arrested and had confessed to the crime, with video evidence reportedly obtained.
Reacting to the development, the victim’s family described the ordeal as deeply traumatic and called for swift justice. They also urged the public to remain vigilant and for authorities to intensify efforts toward preventing similar incidents.
The case has sparked widespread outrage, raising concerns about youth violence, trust among peers, and the increasing incidence of crimes involving acquaintances. Investigations are ongoing as the police prepare to prosecute the suspects.
