A frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Engr. Olufemi Kolawole Sanni, popularly known as ARABA, has said the increasing number of aspirants eyeing the 2027 governorship race is a clear reflection of the political transformation brought about by the 2019 “Otoge” movement.
ARABA made this known in Abuja shortly after participating in the APC governorship screening exercise held as part of preparations for the 2027 political process.
Speaking on the growing interest within the party, he noted that the emergence of about 16 APC-linked governorship aspirants demonstrates the widening democratic space in Kwara politics and the renewed confidence many stakeholders now have in the political system.
According to him, the calibre, experience, and diversity of the aspirants indicate that Kwara’s political landscape has significantly evolved over the years.
“The large number of governorship aspirants we are witnessing today in Kwara is one of the positive outcomes of the Otoge movement,” ARABA stated.
He described the development as a healthy sign for democracy, stressing that it is encouraging to see accomplished individuals from different professional and political backgrounds showing interest in leading the state after the tenure of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The list of aspirants, according to reports, cuts across former lawmakers, technocrats, businessmen, academics, and political office holders.
ARABA also commended APC leaders at both the state and national levels for sustaining unity and stability within the party. He further praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as ongoing developmental strides across Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.
He added that the achievements recorded by the current administration have continued to strengthen public confidence in the APC, while also inspiring more qualified and credible individuals to actively participate in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.
